The second annual Pennsylvania Walk for Water stepped off Saturday at Bermudian Springs High School. Scores of participants in the event carried buckets of water over a 2.7-mile course, replicating the daily trek for clean water that many people around the world endure. The Walk for Water promotes awareness of the global water crisis while raising funds for the Water Mission, a nonprofit Christian engineering organization that designs, builds, and implements safe water, sanitation, and hygiene. At right, At the conclusion of the walk, participants poured their buckets of water into a water purification system such as those used in the programs of Water Mission worldwide to provide safe drinking water to communities that would otherwise lack access to a safe water supply.
